Kigali Hosts the 2025 UCI Road World Championships — First Ever in Africa

The 2025 UCI Road World Championships will be the 98th edition of the annual road cycling world championship, set for September 21-28 in Kigali, Rwanda — the first time the event is hosted in Africa. Thirteen events will take place, including road races, individual time trials, and for the first time a standalone Under-23 women’s road race.

The courses are unusually tough: high altitude, lots of climbing, and challenging terrain designed to test riders more than in recent years. Kigali’s scenic hills and elevation changes are expected to favour strong climbers and make this one of the hardest editions in UCI Road Worlds history.
