“It’s our challenges and obstacles that give us layers of depth and make us interesting. Are they fun when they happen? No, but they are what makes us unique.” said Ellen DeGeneres. Ellen DeGeneres is such a hilarious brave and compassionate lady.
Ellen was born in Metairie, Louisiana in 1958. She is 67 years now in 2025, She is a daughter of an insurance salesman and a speech pathologist mother. She grew up in the Christian science faith but later on she found out that it was not her place to belong. When Ellen was still a teenager, she faced life struggles when her parents due to poverty divorced.

Ellen dreamed to become a veterenian when she was still young. She wasn’t bright enough, so she decided to drop out of university of New Orleans after a semester and since then she started to work odd jobs like painting, waiting tables, selling vacuum cleaners and others.

In her early twenties, Ellen started performing comedy, first she did it for friends, Then she extended it to local coffee houses and comedy clubs. In 1982 she won the showtime contest “Funniest person in America.” which was her breakthrough moment. In 1994 Ellen talent and hardwork were getting noticed. She grew in that spirit of always being helpful to the society and the community.

Her being helpful and so true to the fans, rumors started to spread that her character was soon revealed that she is a lesbian. She spent all this trying to separate her private life and public life. In 1997 Ellen declared that she is a gay. Besides that she wasn’t at ease because she was fighting a battle with her network and her show’s sponsors. They weren’t okay with her being a lesbian. But after all she went through all the struggles and she turned out to be a woman who faces many barriers of her own. She learned that, breaking boundaries is important but also painful.

The best part of Ellen, she ends every show of hers encouraging the audience to be kind to one nother, The best lesson to learn from her is we should not choose to dance when we are not in the mood, tackle tough topics, and careless about being liked. And the bravest an d hardest thing we can be is true to ourselves “mst comedies are based on getting a laugh at somebody else’s expense. And I find that , that’s just a form of bullying in a major way. So, I want to be an example that you can be funny and be kind, and make people laugh without hurting somebody’s else’s feelings.” said Ellen DeGeneres.
