China’s Kaiwa Technology, led by Dr. Zhang Qifeng, claims to be developing a humanoid robot equipped with an artificial womb. As per reports from India Today and Economic Times, the prototype could be ready by 2026, with a price tag around 100,000 yuan (approx. $14,000)
What Is the Pregnancy Robot Supposed to Do?

This robot aims to carry a human fetus in synthetic amniotic fluid inside its abdomen. Nutrients and oxygen are delivered through a tube, mimicking the umbilical cord in natural pregnancy.
Why It’s Raising Eyebrows
Supporters argue this could offer hope for infertile couples and reduce risks of traditional pregnancy. Critics, however, warn of deep ethical and legal dilemmas—questions about parenthood, emotional bonding, and the essence of motherhood are already surfacing.
Local authorities in Guangdong are reportedly evaluating policies to regulate this technology even before the prototype hits the market.
But Is It Even Real?

Not everyone is convinced the project is genuine. Live Science and others suggest that some claims may be exaggerated or unverified. While artificial womb concepts are scientifically real and under study, particularly as alternatives for premature birth, the humanoid robot version remains largely speculative Live Science.
