Perfect East African Doughnuts for Breakfast!

It doesn’t require a lot to prepare a good breakfast which make you ready for a long day ahead. This simple doughnuts from the Vinastar YouTube channel is perfect for breakfast, or a light snack. It takes only 10 minutes and uses basic ingredients you likely already have at home.

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 200ml warm milk
  • 300g all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or melted butter (for the dough)
  • Extra oil or butter (for cooking)

Steps to Follow

  • Mix Wet Ingredients: In a bowl, beat the egg. Add sugar, salt, and warm milk. Mix well.
  • Add Dry Ingredients: Slowly add the flour and baking powder while mixing. Stir until it forms a soft dough.
  • Knead the Dough: Add a spoon of oil or melted butter. Knead the dough until smooth and not sticky.
  • Divide and Shape: Cut the dough into equal pieces. Roll each piece into a round, flat shape like a small pancake.
  • Cook on Pan: Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Lightly oil the surface. Cook each flatbread for about 2–3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and fully cooked.
